Long strands give bending strength and good screw-holding
OSB2 dry interior, OSB3 humid, OSB4 heavy-duty, defined by EN 300
MDI is formaldehyde-free; E0/E1 resin is a different product under the same name
A coating does not turn OSB2 into OSB3
Oriented strand board, in 1220 × 2440 mm and larger formats from 3 mm to 30 mm. Long strands of poplar, pine or mixed softwood are bonded under pressure, and the orientation gives it high bending strength and good screw-holding.
The grade is the specification, not a quality tier, and it is defined by EN 300: OSB2 for dry interior, OSB3 for humid conditions, OSB4 for heavy-duty structural use. That means the choice is made by the exposure the panel will see rather than by the price, and a coating does not turn OSB2 into OSB3 — the grade is about the glue’s tolerance to moisture, which is inside the board. It is used for sheathing, roof decking, floor decking and site hoarding, where the strand structure earns its place: the panel takes load in bending and holds a screw along the face well, which is why it competes with plywood on sheathing. Two things to confirm at order. The bond matters, because MDI is formaldehyde-free and E0/E1 resin options are different products under the same board name. And where a joint will be disassembled repeatedly, a mechanical fixing is the right answer rather than relying on a screw that has already been in and out.
Tell us the exposure and the structural use, and we will confirm the grade and the bond rather than quoting a board by name.
The structural board behind cladding and render
OSB3 where the deck sees humid and intermittent wetting
Tongue-and-groove panels over joists, sized to the joist spacing
A tough sheet that survives being moved around
1 × 20ft container, mixed across products where the mix suits the project. A sample box can be arranged before the first container.
Yes. Send the product and the size you are specifying, and we will confirm the sample and the lead time for it.
Match the grade to the exposure: OSB2 for dry interior, OSB3 for humid conditions, OSB4 for heavy-duty structural use. The grade is defined by EN 300, so it is a specification rather than a quality tier.
No. The grade is about the glue's tolerance to moisture, and a coating does not change what the board is made to do. Use OSB3 where it will see humid conditions.
The oriented strands give good purchase along the face, though a plywood edge holds differently. For sheathing and decking it is more than adequate; for a joint that will be repeatedly disassembled, use a mechanical fixing rather than relying on the screw.
The MDI-bonded board is, and E0/E1 resin options are available. Confirm which bond you are being quoted, because they are different products under the same board name.
Final packing, freight and loading plan are confirmed in writing on the order quotation.
