Ply shows its face on the edge; MDF and particle board need an edge treatment. Decide before cutting.
A warped sheet cannot be jointed flat. Flatness matters more than a few millimetres of tolerance.
Cut 2-3 mm oversize and trim to final dimension once the panel is in position.
Cutting exposes the core. Seal it before assembly, especially on particle board and MDF.
Pre-drill near the edge and keep fasteners out of the show face. Splits show up at assembly, not at fixing.
Bedrooms, offices and hotel rooms carry different emission requirements.
Technical notes
Furniture and joinery buyers are usually looking at one property: how the board machines and holds an edge. Face veneer grade, core composition and thickness tolerance decide that.
Tell us the edge treatment and the finish you plan to apply, and we will confirm which grade suits it.
Area, substrate, fire rating and target cost are enough for a first answer.
