Freight

Packing and Shipping

How the goods are packed, how the container is loaded, and what arrives with it. For most importers this decides the landed cost more than the unit price does.

Packing

Four ways a bundle leaves the factory

Which one is used depends on the surface and the profile, not on preference — a panel that arrives marked is a rejected delivery.

Boards, flooring, most panels

Export pallet

The default for panels and boards. Bundles are stacked on a timber pallet, strapped, and wrapped in stretch film so the pack survives being handled by a forklift three or four times before it reaches site.

UV board, door skin

Carton

Used where the surface has to arrive unmarked — UV board and door skin in particular. The carton protects the face; the pallet still carries the load.

All panel products

Edge protection

Corner protectors and edge boards on every bundle. This is the cheapest line on the packing list and the one that decides whether the corners are still square on arrival.

H20 beam, ceiling tube

Loose, strapped

For beams and long profiles that do not palletise well: banded into bundles with timber spacers, loaded directly to the container floor.

Loading

How the container is planned

No loading table is published here on purpose: capacity changes with the section, the pack height and the mix. What does not change is the method.

  1. 1

The plan is set before production

Pallet size, pack height and carton combination are agreed at quotation, because they decide how many units fit a container and therefore the freight per unit. Changing the plan after production means repacking.

  2. 2

    Mixed containers are normal

A first order is often two or three products in one 20ft. The loading plan is what makes that work without wasting volume — the mix is fixed before the goods are made.

  3. 3

    Heavy below, light above

Boards and beams load low; panels and tube load high. Floor loading is calculated, not guessed, because a crushed bottom bundle is a total loss on those units.

  4. 4

    Photographed before the doors close

The loaded container is photographed and the count confirmed against the packing list. Those photographs are sent with the documents, so what left the factory is on record.
