What this product does

  1. 1
    Three-ply construction

Light and stiff in the direction it is used, and economical

  2. 2
    Yellow film face

A form face that shows the pour line clearly for checking

  3. 3
    Narrow panel widths

500 and 1000 mm, sized to a wall form rather than to a sheet

  4. 4
    Fewer turns, lower price

8–15 turns, so the comparison is cost per pour

Description

A three-ply shuttering panel in spruce or radiata pine from sustainable forests, 21–27 mm thick, 500 mm or 1000 mm wide and 2000–4000 mm long, with a fully coated yellow film face. Standard core or poplar core.

The three-ply construction is not a compromise, it is a different job: a panel in spruce or radiata pine is light, stiff in the direction it is used and takes the film coating well, and the low ply count keeps the price down for wall, deck and platform formwork where the panel is carried by the system rather than spanning alone. It is not a substitute for a heavy multi-ply sheet under high pour pressure, and quoting it against one is the wrong comparison. The yellow film face gives 8–15 turns, fewer than a phenolic film faced sheet, which is a price-point difference rather than a defect — a cheaper panel over ten turns can beat an expensive one over twenty if the form is only used once. The lengths are cut to the deck layout, so the panel arrives at the size the form needs rather than being cut on site, and any cut edge should still be sealed because water entering the plies fails the panel from the edge inwards.

Send the formwork drawing, the pour pressure and how the forms are handled, and we will confirm the ply count, the core and the thickness against the system.

Where it is used

Wall formwork

Panels sized to the form, with the film face against the concrete

Foundation and ground beams

Where the form is used few times and the price governs

Tunnel and bridge soffits

Panels cut to the deck layout rather than to a sheet size

Platform and deck formwork

A form face carried by the system rather than spanning alone

Frequently asked

What is the minimum order?

1 × 20ft container, mixed across products where the mix suits the project. A sample box can be arranged before the first container.

Can I see a sample before ordering?

Yes. Send the product and the size you are specifying, and we will confirm the sample and the lead time for it.

Why does a 3-ply panel suit formwork when more plies are usually stronger?

Because it is a different job. A three-ply panel in spruce or radiata pine is light, stiff in the direction it is used, and takes the film coating well, and the lower ply count keeps it economical for wall and deck formwork where the panel is supported by the system. It is not a substitute for a heavy multi-ply sheet under a high pour pressure.

Standard core or poplar core?

Poplar is lighter and machines cleanly; the standard core is the general formwork option. Where the panel weight matters on a hand-set form, poplar is worth the question. Tell us how the forms are handled.

Why 8–15 turns rather than 15–25?

The film is a yellow form face rather than a phenolic film, so it gives fewer turns. That is not a defect — it is a different price point, and the comparison should be cost per pour: a cheaper sheet over 10 turns can beat an expensive sheet over 20 if the form is only used once.

Can it be cut on site?

Yes, and the cut edge should be sealed. An unsealed edge lets water into the plies and the panel fails from the edge inwards.
