The foam is factory-bonded, so there is no separate underlay to buy or lay
The pad decouples the core from the subfloor, so the floor does not ring
Takes up small high spots that would otherwise work at the joint
The finished floor height includes the foam, so thresholds must be checked
An SPC plank with an IXPE foam pad bonded to the back at the factory, rather than supplied as a separate underlay. The pad is part of the product, so there is nothing to roll out on site and nothing to get wrong.
It changes two things that buyers notice. The floor sounds less hollow underfoot, because the foam decouples the rigid core from the subfloor instead of letting it ring, and the pad absorbs minor subfloor variation that would otherwise telegraph through and work at the joint. That second effect is the practical one: on a real screed the difference between a bonded pad and no pad is usually the difference between a quiet floor and one that clicks at a high spot. It also means the finished floor height includes the pad, which has to be checked against thresholds and skirting before the order. Adding a second underlay on top is the one thing not to do — two soft layers make the click joint work against itself and it will open. Where there is a stated acoustic requirement, tell us the figure and we will say whether this assembly can meet it rather than implying that it will.
Confirm the total finished height and any acoustic requirement when you enquire, since both are decided by the pad rather than by the plank.
Impact sound is the complaint, so the pad is doing the work
A quieter floor over a room that has to stay quiet
Laid over an existing floor without adding a separate underlay
The room where a hollow floor is most noticed
1 × 20ft container, mixed across products where the mix suits the project. A sample box can be arranged before the first container.
Yes. Send the product and the size you are specifying, and we will confirm the sample and the lead time for it.

No. The pad is bonded to the plank, and a second underlay between two soft layers makes the click joint work against itself. The joint will eventually open.
Yes, it is part of the assembly, so the total height includes the pad. Check it against door thresholds and skirting before ordering.
It improves impact sound over a bare floating floor, which is why it is specified in apartments. If there is a stated acoustic requirement, tell us the figure and we will say whether this assembly can meet it rather than implying that it will.
